I have had a passion for reading and writing since I was a little girl with my collection of Nancy Drew books by the side of my bed. I remember my very first attempt at writing a novel was when I was 12. My mother still has a copy of it. I didn't sit down to seriously write again until my father passed away. It was at that time, as I struggled with his passing and traveled from one book store to another, I realized there was very little written on the subject of healing after the death of a loved one. Especially dealing with the death of a parent, it is a week or two of sympathetic friends and then back to life. It is expected that our parents die and it is expected we get over it. Maybe some do but I found myself stuck and hurting.  It was at this time I wrote Nobody is Strong All the Time. When I look back on it I realize the writing was a tremendous healing process for myself, and since then has helped others as they found the need to know they were not alone either. Nobody is Strong All the Time gave me the strength to get through the first year of my father's death and rekindled my love for writing.
I have recently finished the first novel in a series introducing Todd Thorn. Todd has become an extension of my love for nature and animals. While he continues to change as the pages flip by, so do I by being connected to him. This series is aimed at bringing an awareness to the reader of issues facing animals and the environment. A born animal lover, I hope through these novels and stories I can raise an understanding of endangered animals, abused breeds, big business's disregard for the environment, bee hive collapse, etc.  Unfortunately, there is no lacking for subjects to bring forth this series of books.
In the end, I hope what I write is good for the reader, entertaining, enjoyable, worthwhile, and truly hope the words can bring some awareness and asssistance to our beloved animals who find themselves struggling in our world.
