Each year these magical creatures make the long journey from Mexico north. Along the way they need to lay eggs and reproduce. During the summer months, they feed and reproduce on the various milkweed blooming in the north. Then, around labor day, they begin their long journey back to Mexico. When they return the following summer it will be the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the ones who had left.
Planting milkweed in your garden can help these beautiful creatures flourish and give them help along the long journey. Many people are setting up "Monarch Waystations" to help butterflies along their way by creating milkweed gardens.
